After hearing a presentation on July 30th on the one board model of decision making, we voted unanimously as a church council to considering implementing it in our congregation. There are some discovery meetings coming up on Tuesday, September 5th at 4 PM and Monday, September 11th at 6 PM in the fellowship hall about the one board model. Reverend Kelly Berne, who was our associate pastor previously, helped Broadmoor UMC in Shreveport implement the one board model. She will be our main presenter for each of these discovery meetings. We invite each of you to pick one of the meetings to attend so that you can learn more about the one board model as we consider implementing it in our congregation. You will have the opportunity to ask questions during these discovery meetings.
After the discovery meetings, we will hold a church-wide vote after worship on Sunday September 24th. We believe it is important to give each of you the opportunity, after learning about the one board model, to vote on whether or not we implement it in our congregation. After the church wide vote on September 24th, we will enjoy a pot luck lunch in the fellowship hall. I hope you will make every effort to attend one of the discovery meetings and be present on September 24th as we vote on whether or not to implement this model for our decision making process.
We ask you to pray as we consider this for our congregation! We are also looking forward to sharing a pot luck lunch together on Sunday September 24th!
