Christ UMC has been serving the Southern Hills area for over 60 years. We are a mission and leadership-oriented church committed to developing strong Christian leaders through study, prayer, and leadership opportunities and participation in local, state, and international missions.
Christ UMC has a legacy of being a mission-oriented church. From the beginning, we have put an emphasis on helping those in need, wherever that may take us. We continue that legacy with opportunities through Providence House, Common Ground, the Dulac mission, Paint Your Heart Out, and Weekend of the Cross, as well as assisting with disaster supplies through UMCOR. We can change the world when we partner with each other doing the work of Jesus Christ.
Christ UMC has several opportunities for learning and serving together. We are a mission- and leadership-oriented church committed to developing strong Christian leaders through study, prayer, and leadership opportunities. We are proud of our work in local, state, and international missions for over 60 years, and we invite you to join us as we do the work of Jesus Christ. If you are searching for a church home, our prayer is that you will visit and consider being a part of our church family.
We offer a traditional worship experience, fellowship opportunities, and Sunday School classes. Traditional worship begins at 11 AM in the sanctuary and offers a structured style with a traditional affirmation of faith, hymns, and instrumental and choir music, but our sermons will challenge and inspire you to take Christ’s message out into the world.
We have an obligation to bear a faithful Christian witness to Jesus Christ, the living reality at the center of the Church’s life and witness. We share the following basic affirmations in common with all Christian communities:
- God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons
- We believe in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ. God became human in Jesus of Nazareth; and his life, death and resurrection demonstrates God's redeeming love.
- The Holy Spirit is God's present activity in our midst. When we sense God's leading, God's challenge, or God's support or comfort, it's the Holy Spirit at work.
- Genesis 1:27 asserts that we've been made in the image of the Creator. Like God we have the capacity to love and care, to communicate, and to create.
- The kingdom or reign of God is both a present reality and future hope

It is our vision to continue serving our neighbors of Southern Hills and beyond as we partner with each other doing the work of Jesus Christ and fulfilling the passion to love one another.
